Sometimes you have to have a cheat meal. Sometimes, you have to splurge. While I love eating healthy and love how my body feels and functions when I’m eating clean, there has to be room for fun too, and when I want to go all out, I turn to sushi. You see, I have a sushi problem. Like I LOVE sushi. If I could eat only one thing for the rest of my life, I would without a doubt pick sushi. Sashimi, rolls, whatever, I love it all. When I’m adhering to my usual dietary program I eat sashimi and wakami (seaweed salad), but on occasion I just NEED a Crunch Dragon Roll in my life.

Big C and I had date night this past Saturday (rare are the times that we get to go out to dinner sans the babe), so we headed up to the Miracle Mile for one of our favorite spots, Starfish Sushi. While I adore Sugarfish and the infamous Nobu (their shishito peppers are out of this world and their fish is flawless), Starfish is such a great little spot for mellow date nights. Big C and I used to live just blocks from Starfish, and it was a staple in our diets. Now that we live further away we don’t make it there nearly as much as we would like, but we have the menu memorized. We ordered shishito peppers served with benito flakes, the Aloha roll (spicy tuna roll with gobo topped with albacore & jalapeno), Albacore Delight roll (spicy albacore topped with garlic albacore), and Crunch Dragon roll (crunch roll topped with spicy tuna & tempura crunch). I was so excited to eat that I completely spaced on even taking pics of all of the rolls until they were almost gone…oops!  I won’t go into all of the reasons today why sushi is often not a “healthy” meal choice, that’s a discussion for another day and another post, just know that if you are in the area, a visit to Starfish is a must. Happy Wednesday loves! Halfway there 🙂
