Little C has been waiting ever so patiently to meet Santa, and over the weekend she got her wish. The place we live is amazing, and they bring in a Santa every year to the clubhouse for all of the kids. I was worried Little C might be scared or cry, but she stood on her tiptoes in line and when it was her turn she climbed right up onto Santa’s lap and proceeded to stare at him in wonder. She took in his beard, his red suit and spectacles-tentatively stroked the white fur of his coat. She shot me a sideways glance for a moment, and I wondered if perhaps she was questioning the authenticity of this large, white-bearded gentleman whose lap she sat upon; once Santa asked her what she wanted for Christmas though she lit up and it was clear that she was a believer. She whispered that she wanted a “Christmas tweee” and giggled. Perfection. These are the moments that I live for, the moments that make the middle-of-the-night wakings and exhaustion and mommy guilt all worth it. Seeing her happy, secure, content. So special. After our visit with Santa, we went to downtown Culver City to get her a snowman cookie, read a book, and run around. I love how festive everything is this time of year-the reds and greens that pop from window shops and planter boxes. I wish that the holiday season lasted a bit longer-it always seems to go by far too fast. Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend with your loved ones. Let the Christmas count down begin! We are heading out to Utah to be with Big C’s family for Christmas, what are your plans?
