We recently started taking Little C to the Santa Monica Farmer’s Market every Sunday, and now she looks forward to it all week long (as do I). Along with tons of farm-fresh produce, eggs, juices, cheese, and coconuts (yum), there are pony rides and a petting zoo with goats, chickens, a llama and a cow. Obviously the attraction for Little C are the ponies, and she will even pick out in advance which pony she wants to ride and talk about it on the car ride there. She has this precious little look of contentment and pure unmitigated joy when she rides the ponies; the first time that she rode them she wasn’t scared in the least, waving to the other parents watching their own kids, patting her pony. She seems more uncertain around the goats, perhaps because they tend to be a bit forward about wanting to eat the food pellets that Little C gets in a cup to feed to them. She does like the chickens though, small and fluffy Silkies that strut amidst the goats, pecking at the ground. I can not wait for the day that we get to have our own chickens. I miss fresh eggs and how fun it is to have them as pets. One day, hopefully soon. Hope that you all had a wonderful weekend! Happy Monday 🙂
